Policy Exclusions

Companion Protect will not pay for costs associated with or resulting from the following:

Pre-existing Conditions Exclusions:
  • Treatment for listed pre-existing conditions

  • Treatment for conditions with the same diagnosis or symptoms

  • Treatment for conditions caused by pre-existing conditions

Provider and Owner Responsibilities:
  • Services not administered by a veterinarian

  • Injuries or illnesses resulting from owner negligence

  • Intentional acts or abuse by the owner

  • Specific conditions such as spondylosis or necropsies

  • Conditions resulting from specific activities like racing or dog fighting

Preventive Care Exclusions:
  • Vaccinations

  • Parasite control medications

  • Dental treatment unrelated to accidents

  • Generic prescriptions when available

  • Elective euthanasia not recommended by a vet

  • Boarding not medically necessary

  • Food, vitamins, and supplements not part of a treatment plan

  • Declawing, dew claw removal, or debarking (unless medically necessary

Additional Exclusions:
  • Incidental or consequential damages

  • Administrative and miscellaneous fees

  • Spaying or neutering

  • Obedience/training classes or devices

  • Daycare/pet sitting expenses

  • Grooming, bathing, or nail clipping

  • House calls, travel time, transportation

  • Boarding or kennel fees due to human illness

  • Illness or injury outside the United States.

  • Cloned pets or cloning

  • Claims exceeding the maximum lifetime benefit.

  • Services not deemed medically necessary, except those expressly covered
