Pets Best Pet Insurance

Pets Best will not pay for costs associated with or resulting from the following:

• Alternative and Holistic Treatment Exclusions

  • Experimental therapies and medications without published articles in peer-reviewed journals

• Nuclear and War Exclusions

  • Losses arising from nuclear reactions, radiation, radioactive contamination, or discharge of nuclear devices or chemical, biological, biochemical, or electromagnetic weapons, devices, agents, or materials

  • Losses arising from war, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities, civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, strikes, riots, or civil commotion

• Pre-Existing Conditions

  • Chronic Conditions

  • Bilateral Conditions (if consistent pre-existing conditions on either side of the body)

  • Intervertebral disc Conditions (if consistent pre-existing conditions involving intervertebral discs)

• Preventative Care & Dental

  • Routine dental care and cleanings are excluded unless the BestWellness add-on is purchased

  • Treatment for dental illness (such as periodontal disease) is excluded if the pet was enrolled at 6 months of age or older, or if symptoms were present prior to the policy start date or during the waiting period

  • Wellness exams; vaccinations or titer tests; parasite control (flea control, tick control, heartworm medication, deworming)

  • Elective and cosmetic procedures (tail docking, ear cropping, declawing, dew claw removal, ear cleaning)

  • Spaying or neutering (unless recommended following damage to reproductive organs, excluding cryptorchidism and retained ovarian remnants)

  • Claims for Pets found to be healthy with no clinical symptoms

• Other Exclusions

  • Treatments, therapies, and services not covered by Supplemental Benefits (if not purchased)

  • Medications not included in the formulary of covered medications

  • Administrative charges for processing insurance claims and/or sending medical records

  • Injuries due to intentional acts, including organized dog fighting

  • Breeding and Conditions related to pregnancy

  • Boarding and transport expenses, including ambulance transportation

  • Complications or diagnostic tests, treatments, therapies, and/or medications related to Conditions not covered or restricted by the policy

  • Anal gland expression

  • Various items and services (bedding, housing, crates, bowls, feeding, exercise, pet foods, supplements, grooming, nail trims, toys, clothes, leashes, collars, biohazardous waste fees, and treats)

  • Conditions resulting from activities related to racing

  • Failure to follow veterinary advice

  • Conditions, cruciate ligament events, or accidents advised by a veterinarian for preventative measures but not met

  • Conditions arising from repetitive and specific activities leading to decontamination, medical, or surgical treatment if the same or similar activity occurred twice within 18 months prior to the treatment date

  • Training and treatment of behavioral conditions (exceptions with appropriate supplemental benefits)

  • Cremation and Burial
