Tibetan Terrier Breed History

Not surprisingly, the Tibetan Terrier originated from the Himalayan country of Tibet where they were bred for over 2000 years in monasteries. They were known affectionately as the “The Holy Dogs of Tibet.” Tibetan Terriers were never sold but were given as gifts to promote good fortune or as a sign of respect. Despite its name, the Tibetan Terrier dog is NOT a true terrier.
