Spot Pet Insurance
Introduction
Spot Pet Insurance launched in 2019 and is one of the newest brands to enter the U.S. pet insurance market. Backed by Crum & Forster, one of America’s oldest and most trusted pet insurance companies, Spot is focused on getting the word out about the values of pet health insurance through relevant endorsements and social media outreach.
A truly modern approach.
In fact, in just a short period of time the company has already added world-famous dog whisperer, Cesar Millan, to it’s team!
Coverage Options
Spot offers three distinct types of coverage and you can mix and match to find the perfect coverage and price.
- Standard – Like all American pet insurance companies, Spot offers a standard accident and illness policy that covers any unexpected health issues like emergency care, surgery and medications for long-term illnesses. These are the most popular type of plans (over 9 in 10 plans are standard accident and illness) and what we recommend for the best value.
- Accident-Only – This is a less popular plan that only covers vet bills related to unexpected accidents. These plans are extremely limited because they do not cover any bills or treatments related to illnesses, which are more common. We encourage pet parents to opt for a standard plan instead of accident-only plans in order to cover any unexpected health issues.
- Wellness – Spot also offers two preventative care options that you can add to either your standard or accident-only plan. These wellness plans cover expected veterinary expenses like annual visits, vaccinations and annual blood tests. They are a great way to round out your pet’s coverage.
Price
The cost for a standard Spot Pet Insurance plan starts at $29 per month but prices vary depending on your pets breed, age and where you live. Accident-only plans are less expensive than standard coverage because they offer more limited coverage.
Unlike insurance coverage, the price for preventative care plans are fixed. The basic wellness plan costs $9.95/month and provides up to $250 per year in benefits. The higher coverage preventative care plan costs $24.95/month and provides up to $450 in annual wellness benefits.
Insurance plans are underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company. Insurance plans are marketed and produced by Spot Insurance Services, LLC. (NPN # 19246385).
