Petco Pet Insurance vs. Nationwide
Petco and Nationwide are two of the most recognized brands in America, but for entirely different reasons. Petco is an established, national pet brand with over 1,500 stores across North America. Nationwide, on the other hand, is one of the biggest insurance companies in the world. But one thing these two have in common is excellent pet insurance coverage!

Petco vs. Nationwide Pet Insurance
Petco and Nationwide are two of the most trusted brands in America, but in two entirely different industries. Petco has been running pet stores for decades and Nationwide has been protecting homes and cars for even longer.
Company history aside, both companies are now offering pet health insurance plans, and both have unique coverage options that you should strongly consider.
Petco offers a simple accident and illness plan that covers everything from hospitalizations to long-term medications to surgery.
Nationwide also covers accidents and illnesses but they also offer optional wellness coverage for routine care expenses like annual visits and vaccinations.
The only caution we would call out is that Nationwide’s Major Medical plan pays claims based on a benefit schedule, which limits what you’re reimbursed for a given treatment. However, their Whole Pet with Wellness plan uses a more traditional reimbursement payment, which does not limit the payout.
There isn’t a ‘right’ answer so it would be wise to get quotes from both companies and decide which is best. You can also compare other companies below. Best of luck to you and your furry friend!
